What is JSON?

JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a minimal, readable format for structuring data. It is used primarily to transmit data between a server and web application, as an alternative to XML. Squarespace uses JSON to store and organize site content created with the CMS.

Sample JSON Example

{“glossary”: {“title”: “example glossary”,”GlossDiv”: {“title”: “S”,”GlossList”: {“GlossEntry”: {“ID”: “SGML”,”SortAs”: “SGML”,”GlossTerm”: “Standard Generalized Markup Language”,”Acronym”: “SGML”,”Abbrev”: “ISO 8879:1986″,”GlossDef”: {“para”: “A meta-markup language, used to create markup languages such as DocBook.”,”GlossSeeAlso”: [“GML”,”XML”]},”GlossSee”: “markup”}}}}}

Why does JSON important?

Because JSON is lightweight data-interchange format and it increases speed of your website compare to XML data.

Why use JSONlint?

Because as shown above, JSON is light-weight and easily readable to machines but not readable to human being easily. To transform this data in human readable format we must have to use JSONlint. JSONlint will transform this uglified JSON into clean format.
